13 stycznia 1967 roku Rolling Stones pojawili się w programie The Ed Sullivan Show. Zostali zmuszeni do zmiany słów piosenki "Let's spend the night together"
(Spędźmy tę noc razem) na "let's spend some time together" (Spędźmy trochę czasu razem). Jagger zgodził się, jednak podczas występu ostentacyjnie przewracał oczami do kamery, za każdym razem, gdy śpiewał ten wers.
Następnie, Rolling Stones wrócili na scenę ubrani w nazistowskie mundury ze swastykami. Wściekły Sullivan nakazał im powrót do garderoby i przebranie się. W rezultacie tego wydarzenia, gospodarz programu ogłosił, że Rolling Stones mają zakaz występowania w jego show. Jednak, zespół pojawił się ponownie i wykonał 3 piosenki 23 listopada 1969 roku.
Jak na ironię, "(I can't get no) satisfaction" grupa zaśpiewała bez cenzury w 1966 roku.
The Rolling Stones were performed on The Ed Sullivan Show on 13 January 1967. Sullivan himself forced Jagger to substitute the words "let's spend some time together" in place of "let's spend the night together". Jagger agreed to change the lyrics, but he rolled his eyes in displeasure every time he sang the line. When the Rolling Stones, following their performance of the song, returned on stage, they were all dressed up in Nazi uniforms with swastikas. Angry Sullivan ordered them to return to their dressing rooms to change back into their performance clothes. As a result of this incident, Sullivan announced that the Rolling Stones would be banned from performing on his show again. However, the Stones did appear on the show again and performed three songs on 23 November 1969.
Ironically, the group's "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" had been performed uncensored in 1966.
